I Feel Like a Power Ranger

Last week was full of great events and some unexpected events. First off our amie, B---, was baptized last Wednesday! It was such a special baptism and it was so amazing to see the excitement in B---’s face as she was getting  prepped for her big day! It was so cute when she told us that she wanted to get baptized on Sœur Bishop's birthday! I'm pretty sure all of us couldn't sleep last Tuesday night because we were anxious for the next day. B--- is a simple person, so she didn't want anything grand for her baptism and basically at her baptism, there were two members from the ward, 6 missionaries, and there were also missionaries on Skype who taught B--- online before I came to Tours. Before she was baptized Bradley bore a short testimony but she was just so anxious to get dunked in the water. We all gather around the font as she entered and my district leader was the one baptizing her. He showed her how it was done and finally the moment came for her to go under the water. Once she came out of the water she just had the biggest smile on her face and what she said and did was so unexpected and hilarious. She came out of the water and said, "I feel like a Power Ranger" and then she DABS in the font! Definitely a baptism to remember especially since it was my first one on the mission!

Afterwards, we celebrated Sœur Bishop's birthday with cookies and brownies. It was a pretty great day and it made me realize that if I leave this area after my two transfers, I would miss it a ton! Tours is such a fun place!

On Thursday, Sœur Bishop and I had to travel to Le Mans for a district meeting and I had my first kebab there too! Kebabs are some kind of a sandwich with some specific sauce that you choose to your liking on how spicy you would want it to be. They are super good but it's something I wouldn't want to be eating too often haha.

Later on in the day, we return to Tours to get some planning done. We had scheduled a language study session with a member from our branch so we decided to do some contacting along the way. We arrived at our usual bus stop and the most bizarre thing happened. The bus pulled up and the doors opened so everyone stood aside to let people get off the bus. This old lady in particular had trouble getting off the bus and ended up falling with her walker and the next thing, I see blood oozing from her leg. Everyone helped her get to the bench and bless her heart, she was smiling and talking to everyone as if nothing was happening when in reality, she was losing blood by the pound from her leg.

I was still in shock from what I saw and the sight of blood does not make me feel well. I had eaten a full kebab 4 hours earlier in the day and what I saw was not helping me at all. I had two choices: throw up the kebab or just pass out. The kebab decided to stay in my stomach so the process of fainting came into effect. I was leaning against the bus door with my back away from the scene as the paramedics arrived and I knew for a fact that I was not standing next to a rain puddle. I started to feel dizzy and I was sweating too so I closed my eyes to take a few breaths but that was the worst thing I could've done because when I opened my eyes, everything was very fuzzy so I called out to my comp before the paramedics saw me in my condition and pulled me onto the bus so that I wouldn't fall. I sat down in a seat nearly about to pass out and it didn't help that people were asking me questions in French because I still can't understand much. Luckily, Sœur Bishop came to my aid and translated everything for me. I stayed on the bus for about 10 minutes because according to my companion, I was so pale. She said I was lucky that I didn't pass out because if I did, I would've gone to the ER along with the old lady who split her leg open...hey, maybe she and I could've been hospital buddies!

For the rest of the day, my body was just tired because it took so much energy to not pass out. We made it to our language study session and we went straight home after that because Sœur Bishop wanted me to rest and make sure that I wasn't traumatized by what happened at the bus stop.

I wish that I wasn't pressed for time on P-Days, so I'll end this email with my testimony. I love being a missionary! Being a missionary makes me so happy and it amazes me to see the change in the amies that Sœur Bishop and I teach. This gospel makes me happy and I'm glad to being sharing the happiness with people here in France. I know that this church is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Book of Mormon is true, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true, I know that families can be together forever, and I bear testimony that Jesus Christ lives. He is my brother, He is my best friend on my mission, and He is my Savior. I love this gospel and I love this church. I love and miss you all and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
