Not Expecting the Unexpected
Hey everybody! Sorry for not sending out something last week! Ok I actually did have something to send out but due to technology problems my weekly was lost.
There's not much to say from the last week. Well I guess that I should mention that it was the last week of the transfer so Soeur Fears and I were out and about talking with people, meeting with members, and seeing our investigators. We were able to have lunch at the bishop's house with his wife and grandson. She made this wonderful chicken meal that was so delicious with every bite I took.
On Saturday, we had a huge ward activity where we deep cleaned the church building. It was so fun being with the members for the morning! We also had a BBQ for lunch and played with the little kids before we had to leave and do some proselyting. Sœur Fears and I were told about this pastry by the other soeurs in the apartment so we decided to go on a pastry hunt while doing some finding along the way. We did some porting and talked with some more interesting people and made it to the pastry shop. I got a great strawberry cake and Sœur Fears got an eclaire. I'm seriously going to miss French baked goods when I get back home.
I also forgot to mention that we had our district P-Day last week. We went to a castle in the Melun sector called Fontainebleu. It was a decent castle and we also played a frisbee game out in the gardens so we got some sport time in as well. This district has been pretty fun and the missionaries are all so great!
Those are pretty much all that I can remember form last week so I apologize that this isn’t quite an exciting email. So here's a surprise that came to me this morning. Sœur Fears and I have only been companions for just 6 weeks so we went throughout all of last week knowing that we wouldn't be separated because 6 weeks together was too short. Well sure enough I wake up today to find out that she is leaving on Wednesday to go another ville for her mission. We were both surprised to find this out and it was sad. Sœur Fears has been such a great friend and companion to me this last transfer. We were so excited to have more great moments and adventures for at least another transfer but we both came to the understanding that Heavenly Father has things in store for Sœur Fears in Compiègne and me still here in Évry. I'll miss being with her after she leaves but I'm happy to meet my new companion, Sœur Johnson, this week!
I'm down to 12 weeks now guys! I love this gospel and I love being a missionary! Best 15 months of my life! It's been life changing and great!
Have a fantastic week everyone!
Love,
Sœur Hopkinson
